That is so oxford

Here comes yet another tale from last weekend... On our way over to East Grinstead we had to pick up my brother Josh, who lives in Oxford. It was an amazingly clear and sunny day so we weren't too keen to make it a flying stop, we would much rather lap up the rays of funshine in the amazing scenery that is Oxford rather than the hot seat of an over-full car. Josh was already on the ball and had decided to organise a game of tennis (pun intended) so that is exactly what we did.

We then proceeded to explore the surrounding park.

Yea, Barney was there too... or should I say 'El Barno'

On a final note, all of the above is Oxford, but none say 'this is Oxford' quite like this:

It made us laugh...

Scenery, edited

While visiting my brother this weekend just passed I had the first opportunity to team up with him and do some photography, specifically in the area of light graffiti. This is something that is far easier when there are more people due to the nature of the activity. In fact most of the photos we took wouldn't be practically possible at all without at least two people given that the camera and the subject were separated by at least 15 meters of water, in the form of a lake. This is something that my brother and I have talked at length about before and have both done separately so when I stayed over for a night we knew there wasn't going to be much sleeping done.

So after our lovely Chinese that finished around 10 we swooped through his place, got the gear ready, donned the hoodies and hit the streets of East Grinstead looking for a suitably remote location.
after a little while we found a place and did a few test runs, just to check out the area we had to work with:

Now confident of the area, we proceeded to paint the open air with our artistic flow:

Having decided that the screech from that last Catherine wheel was far too loud we moved to a new location before disturbing the locals too much ... We also though it best to introduce an extra element to spice up the photos: Water

Despite our previous experience this last firework too let off a very sudden and loud noise, captured quite well by a comment of a passer by which won't be repeated due to profanity but suffice to say it encompassed both fear and toilet humour.

Love actually is all around

3 very important couples in my life have recently gotten engaged, the wedding season is about to pounce on me come the summer time! This will no doubt provide many an opportunity for photographs of the majority of my friends and family while all scrubbed up which I'm looking forward to, on top of the fact that loving and lasting commitments are going to be made, a historical time, well worth documenting.

In fact the opportunity to capture these precious moments has already arrived in the form of my brothers engagement party. Further jubilation ensued after realising that my brother (also a keen amateur photographer) had hired a Cannon prime lens for a week, allowing us to take decent photos in a low light setting, due to the f2.8 through the whole zoom range. Lush.

I am certainly looking forward to the big day, when I gain a whole new family-in-law and a promise of commitment is made before God. An unfortunately rare but beautiful thing. Congrats Ed!
