Recently

Yep It has been a long old while since I last posted here though this is quite telling of the last couple of months of my life! So Since my last post I arrived back in rainy England, went to Newday - a national youth event run by Newfrontiers, visited the Netherlands, applied to and began my degree at Redcliffe college studying Applied theology in cross cultural contexts.

It has been a forest of new experiences, sharp learning curves, ups, downs and lots of busyness throughout, until now that is. I am now beginning to settle into my new home. It is quite telling that I am not settled in a place if I haven't found the time to get my camera out. Well as a point of settling in I went for a walk this week and the camera came with - and now you can join for the highlights of the journey.

Ok, watch this space, there will be more posts to come and they will probably (hopefully) be far more comprehensive than this one :)

Still Here

Having made contact with the South African High Commission last Friday I was rudely awoken to the fact that there were several documents that I had not provided in order for the visa to be processed. As a result I am still in England and not in Germany. In better news: I have now collected and sent off the aforementioned documentation and am now playing the waiting game once again for my visa to return to me so that I can fly on the 30th. There are a few redeeming factors to remaining for the two extra weeks - Firstly I was around for Daves' birthday (Happy Birthday Dave) which was nice and also I was around for my own birthday which was average in the main but a spontaneous visit from an old friend and good food made all the difference.

Last but not least I took this picture which I had wanted to do for ages - it didn't come out as I had expected/hoped but then they rarely do. I still like the result though and that sums up still being here

Home

If you know me then you know I have recently moved out of my parents and in with Dave (the living legend) Hewer. This transition has been just about as much fun as I had anticipated and also just the amount of effort I had been expecting but it all comes with the territory.

One of this weeks discoveries: the bright side to dampness. The flat we are in is prone to some pretty bad damp as it's in an old building, we knew this before we moved in so no big deal but one thing I had not foreseen was the view of sunset from the bay window in it's overly condensed state.

The above is looking down our street from the window at sunset with the drops of water setting off the bokeh.

Oh and as promised :- the pumpkin scones turned out beautifully ... Well done Helen
